Its always nice to get positive feedback, even if it’s in the form of a fill-in-the-blanks template. But what’s this at the bottom, some additional comments? Oh yes, turns out Steve’s manner wasn’t always so excellent. I would like to apologize at this time to any members of the Cromwell Valley 1973 5th grade whose learning experience I disrupted.

Kindergarten field trip

OK, here are some Cromwell memories going way back, all the way to kindergarten.
Our big field trip back in 1968 was a trip to the Parkville post office. I guess the highlight of
the trip was getting a little piece of paper stamped with the official postage stamper. I have
no memory of being there or getting it, but my Mom saved the stamped paper! We were there
on Feb 21 1968.

Now I know “report cards” are a pretty subjective thing for a Kindergartener. I’ve have
2 kids myself go through that stage, and another pending. Let’s face it, your main objective
back then was just play with some blocks and make it to the bathroom on time. My kids’
school has attempted to “grade” kids on social interaction and whatnot. But back in 1968
at Cromwell, your report was just a form letter, filled out with the proper name and gender.
Of course maybe there was a another form for kids that weren’t making progress?

Fine Arts Festival - 1974

Continuing on the Cromwell theme; here is a little handout from our end of year concert - the culmination of many years of musical training. Yes, all your favorites were on display that night. The heart pounding rhythm of Krazy Klock. The rousing majesty of Day By Day. Dual drum solos by Glenn and myself. And cover art by Arnold Lee to boot. Truly one for the ages.

Senior Echoes - 1974

Great seeing everyone at the Loch Raven reunion last week.

I surprised some people by carrying around a copy of ‘Senior Echoes‘, the commencement pamphlet from Cromwell Valley circa 1974.

Back in the day, we didn’t have fancy hard-bound yearbooks with full color photos; especially not in elementary school! We had loose paper handouts, typed on a manual typewriter, and which looked like it had been run thru the mimeograph machine about 100 times.

Anyway, here is it in all its glory. Click the thumbnails to see the full page. Actually this thing is a treasure trove of long repressed memories. The field trip to NYC. Williamsburg. Student versus Faculty basketball showdown. Feel free to add comments; click comments at the bottom of the page.

BTW, who were the girls that missed the ferry leaving the Statue of Liberty? I had no recollection of that at all.
