Senior Echoes - 1974

Filed under: Old School — Steve Browning @ 5:49 pm

Great seeing everyone at the Loch Raven reunion last week.

I surprised some people by carrying around a copy of ‘Senior Echoes‘, the commencement pamphlet from Cromwell Valley circa 1974.

Back in the day, we didn’t have fancy hard-bound yearbooks with full color photos; especially not in elementary school! We had loose paper handouts, typed on a manual typewriter, and which looked like it had been run thru the mimeograph machine about 100 times.

Anyway, here is it in all its glory. Click the thumbnails to see the full page. Actually this thing is a treasure trove of long repressed memories. The field trip to NYC. Williamsburg. Student versus Faculty basketball showdown. Feel free to add comments; click comments at the bottom of the page.

BTW, who were the girls that missed the ferry leaving the Statue of Liberty? I had no recollection of that at all.

  1. Hey Folks,
Just got an email from Pattie Woodworth about her trauma missing the bus in
New York City. Sorry, couldn’t remember that incident. Ronda Jackson was making me so
crazy that I didn’t notice another thing. I did find a few pictures of that trip. My
folks think they have a picture taken from the top of the RCA building. Does anyone
know how to get in touch with Ronda?

  2. Ha! I certainly remember being at the top of the statue of liberty, and I guess I kind of remember something ‘going wrong’ during the trip, but not that people missed the boat. It’s funny seeing things now as a parent, I can just imagine the pain in the gut Mrs Morelos must have had when the headcount came up short.

  3. Wow! Steve, thank you so much for sharing this with us. I had forgotten
about this publication. I did have a copy, for a long time, but when
my parents moved from Cromwell Bridge Rd, my mom cleaned out the
basement and threw most of my memoribilia away!
Do they still allow 6th graders to go on overnight field trips? I do
remember that trip and I don’t remember a whole lot of supervision…

  4. I’ve got to have a pair of those white rimmed glasses!
Did we really look like that?!?!
Mr. Rollins’ hope is no longer a hope but a reality, at least for me!
    I hope for you, too.

  6. Oh my god. I can’t believe you have this old stuff. Makes me feel really old!

What I recall from the Statue of Liberty is that Janet Kues, Lynn Kues, Barbara Rodgers
and one other person did make the ferry - we were with Mrs. Kues. It still remember Milo
Morales shouting at the boat as it pulled away. Unfortunately, we were stuck on the
    boring side of the island!!

Sorry I missed the last reunion…

    Barb
